In the wild, gerbils feed almost exclusively on grasses, seeds and fruits. From time to time, however, small insects and their larvae also form part of their diet, serving as an important source of energy. Pregnant and lactating gerbils in particular have a high protein requirement. To ensure that the small animals get everything they need for an active life, the gerbil feed should consist of a balanced mixture of natural ingredients – species-appropriate and in line with what nature intended.
