Did you know from 31st March 2016 it will be compulsory for all dogs to be microchipped?  Maxi Zoo are delighted to be a part of this fantastic initiative, to bring awareness to the topic of Microchipping your pets in Ireland once again.

To celebrate National Microchipping Month, Maxi Zoo will host a range of events in store where customers can come and get their Pet’s chip checked for free, learn more about the process and hear from local charities on how microchipping could have saved numerous pet’s from going missing.  The “Maxi Zoo Check Your Chip” initiative is free to all customers who are welcome to take their pet to any of our 17 store locations to have its microchip details scanned at any time during opening hours.   This information is sent to FIDO.ie, a part of the European Pet Network Database, which is invaluable in helping to identify pets who may be lost abroad or who may be stolen in Ireland and then found abroad.  FIDO.ie will contact any dog owners whose details do not match those on their database in order to make separate arrangements for them to update their details at nominal cost.

Our friends at Dogs Trust and FIDO.ie have put together an excellnt information leaflet on Microchipping below.  Make sure you have all the facts before the legislation is passed!
