In this so-called colostrum, the mother transfers antibodies that she has acquired during her life to her kittens. 4 to 12 months after birth, the natural immunity that kittens receive from the mother's colostrum gradually decreases. Since the kittens lose the ability to digest lactose, it is time to start the weaning process and to facilitate the transition to solid food. The customised kibble of ROYAL CANIN Mother & Babycat can be soaked particularly easily. The soft texture of the kibble makes it easier for young cats to chew and swallow their food, – which ultimately facilitates the transition to eating and the digestion of solid food. The special formula also supports the nutritional needs of the mother during the entire weaning phase.

Thanks to highly digestible proteins and prebiotics, ROYAL CANIN Mother & Babycat feed has been especially optimised with regard to the high digestion tolerance of cats, as it reduces the amount of undigested nutrients. It is enriched with DHA, a natural omega-3 fatty acid that helps develop the brain function of the kittens.
